TIC (March, 2018) – “Really it boils down to something pretty simple. And it’s relationships.”

Oprah Winfrey, featuring Bruce Perry M.D., Ph.D., presented a segment on Trauma-Informed Care on 60 Minutes Sunday evening (March 11, 2018). Oprah discussed how trauma impacts children and the importance of using a trauma-informed approach to provide supports. Having learned about the science behind the approach, Oprah said that she has changed how she looks at employees who are struggling. The questions that she and others may ask have changed from “What’s wrong with you? What’s with that kid? Why is he/she behaving like that?” to “What happened to you?” Based on the trauma-informed approach in FCS, we can add the question, “How can I help?”
