TIC (April, 2019) – SELF CARE for Educators To become a “7 Habits” school district, we must practice and model the habits in our daily lives. This includes taking time to sharpen our saws. On airplanes, we are reminded to put on our own oxygen mask, before helping others, in the case of an emergency. Likewise, we must take care of our own physical and emotional health before we can be our “best self” for our students. For some, this is a particularly stressful time of year. Self-care is vitally important during state testing and as we approach the end of the school year. Please read Self Care for Educators from The National Child Traumatic Stress Network to learn more about tips to address compassion fatigue or secondary traumatic stress. |
