The second FCS Cares, Trauma-Informed Care inspired SHOUT-OUT, goes to Mrs. Rhonda Hiatt at Lincoln Elementary School!
Mrs. Hiatt was quick to act when a student was having a medical emergency. Thanks to her quick thinking and response the student was ok. The student was understandably scared afterwards. Mrs. Hiatt used a trauma-informed response by sitting with the student and helping the student to calm down. She also called his grandmother to let her know what had happened. This is a great example of remaining calm in a stressful situation, caring for a student who had medical and emotional needs, and following through by communicating with school personnel and family.
