The fourth FCS Cares, Trauma-Informed Care inspired SHOUT-OUT, goes to Theresa Welty and Food Service, all of the TrojanTrue staff of FCS, and community businesses and agencies who supported the Findlay school community during the shutdown due to Covid-19!

The following list is but a few of the amazing acts of kindness, generosity, innovation, and creativity that have occurred since March 13, 2020.

  • Celebrating a special shout-out to Theresa Welty and the Food Service staff!
    • As of May 4, Theresa and her staff have prepared 7,373 student meals that included breakfast and lunch.
    • Theresa spent countless hours, including weekends, and even returned from an approved leave early to organize food preparation and distribution.
    • Numerous FCS personnel stepped up to the plate to help with food distribution! If you were one of those people who helped, THANK YOU!
  • Celebrating a labor of love! TrojanTotes were created twice, for every Prek-2 student and also for some students in other grades that were unable to connect to the learning opportunities offered online.
  • Celebrating the Virtual 5K to benefit Clothe-A-Child (CAC)!
    • As of May 4th, FCS had 844 registered runners for the Trojan True Together 5k!
    • FCS has collected $7,092 in extra donations
    • Total $$ raised for CAC so far….$11,400!
  • Celebrating our seniors!

    • Celebrating the Adopt a Senior initiative!
    • Signs were also placed in senior’s yards to celebrate their upcoming graduation! This was paid for by local businesses!
  • Celebrating the “Drive-by” Easter parade down Main Street!
  • Celebrating FCS staff, especially the IT department, who provided technology resources, chromebooks, and hotspots, etc. so that employees could provide remote educational opportunities during the shutdown!
    • Celebrating all of the Zoom and Google Hangout meetings with students and parents/guardians!
  • Celebrating the Millstream Medical Professionals and FHS science department donation of PPE (masks and gloves) to Blanchard Valley Health Systems!
  • Celebrating Bridge books!
    • As of May 5th, 1,356 books have been requested by parents for students in grades PreK to 5, and more orders may still be coming!
    • The Smarty Pants store in Findlay graciously gave FCS a good price on the books! The books were paid for by Title 1, Title 4, and building fee money.
  • Celebrating the creative use of technology to provide virtual tours of school buildings!
  • Celebrating FCS counselors and the Family Resource Center who continued to provide mental health support to students in need!
  • Celebrating collaboration with FCS and support from the community!
    • Including, but not limited to the Kids Food Alliance (YMCA, Mayor’s office, and the United Way), City Mission, ADAMHS Board system of care grant for provided virtual yoga opportunities, FRC, and the many restaurants that provided food to families.
  • Celebrating the efforts of our maintenance department and custodial staff!
    • Signage throughout our schools with protocols to keep our students and staff safe!
    • Disinfecting surfaces in 12 school buildings!
  • Celebrating those who voted YES for the Levy!
  • Celebrating the FCS Administration!
    • For staying informed and providing timely communication to employees!
    • For problem solving and finding solutions!
    • Efforts to recognize student accomplishments at the end of the school year!
    • Coordinating a virtual graduation!
  • Celebrating all of the school psychologists, related service providers, interpreters, and aides who held meetings with students and families, answered questions, and provided services!
  • Celebrating 395 FCS Teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week!
    • A flowering plum tree was planted in the Donnell park honoring their service during the covid-19 shutdown.
    • Signs were placed in teacher’s yards… “FCS Teachers are the Best”

This is not an exhaustive list of every FCS staff member, business, and agency in the community that supported Findlay students and families during this time. With sincerity and gratitude, thank you for what you do for our students!
