FINDLAY CITY SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
January 14, 2021
The Board of Education met in special session at 7:00 am via teleconference. President Siebenaler Wilson called the meeting to order. Present were Mr. Aldrich, Mr. Cooper, Ms. Eier, Mrs. Russel, Dr. Siebenaler Wilson, Treasurer Mr. Hammond, Assistant Superintendent Mrs. Miller, and Superintendent Mr. Roth.
FEA Co-Presidents, Mrs. Dittman and Mrs. Biesiada expressed concerns about returning to school in a hybrid manner or a remote manner. They discussed reasons they are against going back to brick and mortar at this time and that teachers do not feel safe.
The Board of Education asked the FEA representatives questions about returning to in-person learning for K-12 students. Superintendent Roth explained new quarantine guidelines, survey results from the FCS staff in receiving the vaccine, and HB409 permitting each school to employ a sub without a Bachelor’s Degree. Each district may determine the requirements necessary to sub. Dr. Siebenaler Wilson asked for a motion to return to in-person learning.
2021-001-015 RETURN TO IN-PERSON LEARNING
It was motioned by Mr. Aldrich, seconded by Mrs. Russel to approve the recommendation proposed by superintendent Roth to return to in-person learning to 4 days for K-12 students. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday will be in-person learning and Wednesday will be 100% remote. Preschool will remain on their currant hybrid schedule.
Roll call: Mr. Aldrich, aye; Mrs. Russel, aye; Mr. Cooper, aye; Ms. Eier, nay; Dr. Siebenaler Wilson, aye. President Siebenaler Wilson declared the motion carried.
It was motioned by Mrs. Russel, seconded by Mr. Aldrich to adjourn the meeting at 7:41 am.
