FINDLAY CITY SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING MINUTES

October 18, 2021

The Findlay City Schools Board of Education met October 18, 2021 in regular session at 6:00 p.m. at Donnell Middle School and via teleconference. President Siebenaler Wilson called the meeting to order. Present were Mr. Aldrich, Mr. Cooper, Ms. Eier, Mrs. Russel, Dr. Siebenaler Wilson, Treasurer Mrs. Harrington, Assistant Superintendent Mrs. Miller, and Superintendent Mr. Roth.

2021-010-001 READING, APPROVAL, AND SIGNING OF MINUTES

It was motioned by Mrs. Russel, seconded by Mr. Cooper to approve the Regular Meeting Minutes from September 20, 2021.

 Roll call: Mrs. Russel, aye; Mr. Cooper, aye; Mr. Aldrich, aye; Ms. Eier, aye; Dr. Siebenaler Wilson, aye. President Siebenaler Wilson declared the motion carried.

CELEBRATIONS

Mr. Williams welcomed the Board to Donnell and discussed the great things happening. Mrs. Russell celebrated our student athletes and the Golden Apple Award nominees. Mr. Cooper celebrated athletics and the student section involvement at football games. Dr. Siebenaler Wilson celebrated Millstream Career Options for county school students. She also celebrated the Millstream Café opening on Thursday’s and Friday’s to the public. Dr. Siebenaler Wilson also celebrated Continue Collaboration with Movement Findlay who has provided a monthly breakfast and been volunteering as mentors for Glenwood students. Mr. Aldrich celebrated Northview and the effects of the Child Whisperer on students. Ms. Eier celebrated the Lincoln Elementary School Memorial Scholarship that has raised over $14,000. She also celebrated Chamberlin Hill’s veteran’s day celebration on November 11, 2021 from 1:30-2:30. Mr. Roth celebrated National Principal’s month, Dennis Doolittle and Ryan Parsons, and the FHS choirs and directors Kevin Manley and Krista Bigger.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

Mrs. Dittman, FEA President celebrated the student athletes. She expressed concerns with student’s speech and behavior issues due to the last years issues. She thanked the board and district leaders on the use of the ESSER funds and using the money for student achievement. Chip Garns spoke to the Board about Critical Race Theory.

2021-010-005 ESC Purchased Service Agreement

It was motioned by Mr. Aldrich, seconded by Mr. Cooper to approve the ESC Purchased Service Agreement as shown in EXHIBIT F.

2021-010-006 Out-of-State Travel

It was motioned by Mrs. Russel, seconded by Mr. Cooper to approve Joyce Pippert and students in the Pre-Life in the Sea course to travel to Newport, KY on December 14, 2021 to visit the Newport Aquarium.

SUPERINTENDENTS COMMENTS

The emergency substitute bill has not yet been signed by the governor. Food service is having supply issues causing menus to be changed at all buildings and they are also having staffing issues. The Administration offices will be moved by November 1st. State report cards will be reported on at the November meeting. 

2021-010-007 EXECUTIVE SESSION

It was motioned by Mrs. Russel, seconded by Mr. Aldrich to go into executive session at 6:50 pm to discuss employment and compensation of personnel, purchase or sale of property, and upcoming negotiations with employees.
