The Findlay City Schools Board of Education met December 13, 2021 in regular session at 6:00 p.m. at Donnell Middle School and via teleconference. President Siebenaler Wilson called the meeting to order. Present were Mr. Aldrich, Mr. Cooper, Ms. Eier, Mrs. Russel, Dr. Siebenaler Wilson, Treasurer Mrs. Harrington, Assistant Superintendent Mrs. Miller, and Superintendent Mr. Roth.

2021-012-001 READING, APPROVAL, AND SIGNING OF MINUTES

It was motioned by Mrs. Russel, seconded by Mr. Cooper to approve the Regular Meeting Minutes from November 15, 2021, Special Meeting Minutes from November 30, 2021 and the Board Work Session Minutes from November 30, 2021.

Roll call: Mrs. Russel, aye; Mr. Cooper, aye; Mr. Aldrich, aye; Ms. Eier, aye; Dr. Siebenaler Wilson, aye. President Siebenaler Wilson declared the motion carried.

CELEBRATIONS

Dr. Theis welcomed the Board and handed out a packet with information about the Ecology Garden at Bigelow Hill and explained the PBL (project based learning) project. Mrs. Russel celebrated second graders having a Zoom call with a weatherman! Also, first graders at Jefferson were in The Courier for their science project. She also celebrated FFE and their holiday show. Mr. Aldrich celebrated the FHS orchestra concert. He also celebrated Mr. Payne and Northviews RUN program. Ms. Eier celebrated GW and DO and attending both of their choir concerts and holiday programs and also to FFE for their program. She mentioned she’ll be seeing the preschool Thursday and then is looking forward to winter sports season. She wished everyone a happy holiday season. Mr. Cooper celebrated Whittier’s 50 students participating in clothe-a-child. They also collected items for several charity organizations in town. He also celebrated that Donnell has an engineer from NASA from the Glen Research Center that is working with 6th graders to design and test a rover vehicle to test wheels on a simulated Mars surface. Dr. Siebenaler Wilson celebrated Pam Hamlin setting up an Ohio Department of Education meeting at GW and Justin Shank for Zooming in. Mr. Roth celebrated secretary Lisa Fish at Glenwood and all the staff and students. He wished everyone a good break that is well deserved.

  • Roth celebrated the following grant: Ohio Arts Council awarded Kim Plesec and Jefferson Primary a Big Yellow School Bus Grant (#2213128) in the amount of $294.00 to be utilized to transport the entire student body to the theatrical performance of Pout Pout Fish on February 17, 2022.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

Any individual desiring to speak shall give his/her name, address, and group, if any, that is represented. The presentation should be as brief as possible. Unless an extension of time is granted, the speaker shall be limited to five (5) minutes until the total of thirty (30) minutes is used.

  • Findlay Board of Education have offered the following extra-duty positions, listed below, to the certificated employees of the district and have advertised the positions to certificated personnel not employed by the district, and

S. Hiring of Instructional Coaches for FDA Extended Learning Opportunities Program

The Superintendent recommends engagement of Brenda Boster, Susan Busey, Linda Darnall, Barb Ebersole, Lori Faeth, Erin Gondor, Linda Huffman, Dorothy La Fontaine, Gregg Lang, Maria Little, Steve McAdoo, Kathy Rayle, Deb Rollins, Ann Spuller, David Vass, Jane VanRenterghen, Gary Wilson as instructional coaches for the 2021 – 2022 School year Extended Learning Program to be purchased through Findlay City School’s at the cost of $33.65 per hour on an as needed basis.

T. Stipend for Extended Learning Coordinator for Findlay Digital Academy

The Superintendent recommends a stipend for Wendy Farrow of $7,200.00 for 36 additional days of service to coordinate the Findlay Digital Academy Extended Learning Opportunities Program.

U. Policy Update

  • The superintendent recommends approval of Policy 5.02 Transportation Services and Policy 1.15 Sexual Harassment/Title IX Grievances as discussed at the November 15, 2021 meeting.

SUPERINTENDENTS COMMENTS

District wide emergency drill will take place this Wednesday. Mr. Roth also mentioned the anonymous tip line available on the FCS website.

The open interview night for substitute teaching resulted in approximately 30 interviews. Also, the cold storage building being built collapsed

In the wind storm on Saturday. In January we will be switching over to BoardDocs for agendas and meetings.
